2017 Oscar® Nominated Short Films

The Frederick Film Festival (The F3) is proud to announce that it will be showing the 2017 Oscar® Nominated Short Film nominees in the ANIMATED and LIVE ACTION categories on February 24 (the Friday before the Academy Awards on February 26) at the Weinberg Center for the Arts

Also, the F3 will again be showing the Oscar nominees in the DOCUMENTARY SHORTS category. This program will be shown at the Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center on February 25.

This is the only place you'll be able to see these Academy Award nominated films in a theater setting in Frederick.

We will be presenting the nominees in the Best Short Film: Animated and the Best Short Film: Live Action categories at the beautiful Weinberg Center. These are some of the most popular, yet most difficult to see, films nominated by the Academy. Most of these films did not have a wide release and played primarily at film festivals.

The Best Short Film: Documentary  nominees tend to be longer than the other short film categories (the documentary program is the same length as the other two categories combined) hence the second day of films at the Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center

The animated shorts program starts at 7:00pm and the live-action shorts program starts at 9:00pm on Friday, February 24.

The Documentary Shorts program will be divided into 2 blocks...the first starting at 6pm, the second at 7:30pm on Saturday, February 25.

The Oscar ceremony will be broadcast on Sunday, February 26 on ABC.

More information about ALL the nominees can be found at the Academy's website:
